Cost per piece = (carton price + transport) ÷ pieces. A Rs 2,880 carton of 24 with Rs 60 transport costs Rs 122.50 a piece, not Rs 120. That Rs 2.50 is your profit leaking if you forget it.
Set the piece price from the full cost, then check the carton: 24 pieces at Rs 140 bring Rs 3,360, a Rs 420 profit on the carton. If a wholesale customer wants the full carton, you know exactly how far down you can go.
Carton price ÷ pieces in the carton. A Rs 2,880 carton of 24 is Rs 120 a piece. Add your transport per carton first for the true cost.
A dozen is 12 and a gross is 144 (12 dozen).
Loose pieces usually carry a higher margin; full cartons sell faster at a lower margin. Price both so each still pays you.
