What you owe now
For a shop, zakat is due on cash, bank money, gold and silver, the stock you keep for sale, and udhaar you are sure to get back. Subtract supplier bills and loans due now. If what's left is at or above the nisab, and a lunar year has passed, give 2.5% of it.
Stock is usually counted at today's value. Many scholars accept the purchase price for simplicity. Shop furniture, fridges, the counter, the building and your house are not counted.
The silver nisab (52.5 tola, 612.36 g) is lower, so more people pass it; the gold nisab is 7.5 tola (87.48 g). This calculator is a guide only. Ask your scholar about your own case, especially doubtful udhaar and long-term loans.
