A loaded trolley comes onto the kanta. The operator chooses the farmer, or writes a new one with CNIC and mobile, and enters the weight. After unloading, the empty trolley is weighed again and Munshi works out the net cane in kg and maunds.
The rate per maund and the centre's deduction rule (a fixed amount, a percentage, so much per maund, or a weight cut for trash) are applied, and the slip prints with the net payable. Whatever is not paid on the spot stays on the farmer's account, along with any advance given before the season.
