Know your real profit: munafa, kharcha and the galla cash book

Sales are not profit. See today's munafa after the cost of goods and every expense, keep the galla honest, and hand your accountant clean books.

"Aaj bikri Rs 48,000 hui" sounds good — but how much did you actually earn? Munshi answers that question every day.

Munafa = sales − cost − kharcha

Because Munshi knows what each item cost you (its average cost), it works out the gross profit on every bill. Record your expenses in Kharcha — bijli, kiraya, salaries, chai-pani, transport — and Munafa shows the real profit for today, this month or any dates you choose.

Munshi also explains the number: "munafa is down 12% because discounts rose and cooking oil costs more."

Kharcha in seconds

Tap Kharcha, choose the type, type the amount (or say it — the mic understands "paanch sau"), and optionally snap a photo of the bill. Monthly bills like rent can repeat automatically. Money you take home for the family goes in as ghar ka kharcha, so it never looks like a business expense.

The galla cash book

Every rupee in and out of the cash drawer is in the cash book: sales in cash, kharcha paid from the galla, cash taken out or put in. At day end, count the cash; Munshi shows what should be there and records any shortage against the cashier.

A summary every evening

Turn on the daily summary and Munshi sends you today's sales, profit, cash, udhaar given and collected — on WhatsApp or SMS — even when you are not at the shop.

Real books for your accountant

Behind the simple screens, Munshi keeps full double-entry accounts: ledger, trial balance, profit & loss and balance sheet. Your accountant gets their own login in the Accountant portal, and can export to QuickBooks, Xero or Tally, plus the FBR sales annexure. Courier COD payouts, staff salaries and dealer bills all post by themselves.

Tip: check Munafa every Saturday, not just sales. It is the fastest way to spot an item you sell at a loss.
