Bilty format in Pakistan: every field and a sample bilty

What a goods bilty must show in Pakistan: bilty number, sender, receiver, goods, packages, freight, paid or to-pay, COD and delivery, with a sample layout you can copy.

Short answer: a goods bilty is the adda's receipt for the goods it carries. It must show the bilty number and date, from and to station, sender and receiver with mobile numbers, what the goods are, number of packages and weight, freight and other charges, who pays (paid, to-pay or on account), any COD to collect, and terms. The receiver shows the bilty (or the number and their CNIC) to take delivery.

If you have never seen one, read what is a bilty first. This post is the format.

The fields, in order

Section Field Why it matters
Top Adda name, address, phone Who to call about the goods
Top Bilty No. and date The number everyone uses to find the goods
Route From station, to station Where it was booked and where it is delivered
Sender Name, mobile, CNIC Who sent it, for claims and COD
Receiver Name, mobile Who may take delivery, and who gets the arrival message
Goods Description (e.g. cloth bales, cartons of crockery) What was handed over
Goods Packages and weight To check nothing is missing at delivery
Goods Declared value Needed if goods are lost or damaged
Money Freight, loading or labour, total What the adda charges
Money Paid / to-pay / account Who pays the freight, and when
Money COD amount Goods value to collect from the receiver for the sender
Bottom Terms, booking clerk, signature The adda's conditions and who booked it

COD on a bilty

Some senders ask the adda to collect the goods' value from the receiver (cash on delivery). The bilty should show the COD amount separately from the freight, and the adda's books must show it as money owed to the sender until it is paid out. Mixing COD with freight income is how addas end up short.

Printing and tracking

Most addas print bilties in three copies: sender, office and the copy that travels with the goods. With transport software the bilty is printed from the booking itself, the receiver gets a WhatsApp message when the goods arrive, and sender and receiver can track the bilty online with its number. To-pay freight and COD are tracked until they are collected and paid out.
